Bongo Java is Nashville's most celebrated local coffee company. The company started in 1993 with a single cafe and now boasts four cafes (Bongo Java, Fido, Grins Vegetarian and Bongo Java Roasting Co.) as well as a coffee roasting operation. The company became world famous in December 1996 for the discovery of a cinnamon bun that many believe looks remarkably like Mother Teresa and again in 2005 when the NunBun was stolen. Bongo Java roasts, serves and wholesales 100% organic and 100% Fair Trade coffee.
