Peace Coffee was a dedicated 100% Fair Trade Coffee Company before it was the flavor of the month. Since 1996, we’ve been buying our beans direct from farmers, providing pre-harvest financing, and roasting them as well as we know how. Since the first batch of Guatemalan coffee, we have made connections with coffee cooperatives in Mexico, Sumatra, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Peru, Nicaragua and Colombia. We have also changed the supply chain by co-founding Cooperative Coffees, a coop of roasters formed to import 100 percent fair trade coffee direct from the farmer coops that grow it. Doing it differently remains our favorite challenge. We roast, pack and distribute our coffee beans all under one eco-friendly roof in Minneapolis. In the Twin Cities metro area, we deliver by bike year-round and our suburban accounts get their coffee from a big, bright biodiesel van. What remains unchanged through time is our complete devotion to the idea of a fairly traded, farmer-friendly product and the wonders of a great cup of coffee.
As a 100% fair trade company, Peace Coffee is dedicated to forging more equitable trading relationships with coffee growers throughout the world. We support the Ethiopian Coffee Trademarking and Licensing Initiative's efforts to provide growers with direct market access and to improve the prices farmers receive for their coffees.
